Shifting Ground
C3 Contemporary Art Space
Bullock believes that the form of the human figure and the shape of natural objects are fluid but the human form has impacted upon the design of nature. Reflected in this body of work is the juxtaposition of nature tempered by the consequences of human impact. While at times humanity is in harmony with nature we are also in conflict. Her work is conceptually centred on place – responding to social, global and cultural issues where nature remains a complex place and where the landscape keeps shifting. Depicting places and describing energies, Bullock’s work recognises the deliberate tension between nature and figurative elements.
